A New Dimension in Maritime Education: Step Onto the Deck

WalkOnBoard.com is an interactive training platform established to bridge the gap between theoretical maritime education and real onboard bridge and living quarter experience.

Our Story and Inspiration The foundations of our project were laid in 2015 on the empty decks of a massive Ro-Ro ship undergoing maintenance in a shipyard, when I was a young cadet officer. The idea felt that day—“A maritime student should be able to explore these huge ships, bridge equipment, and the engine room from home before going on an internship or first contract”—forms the core vision of WalkOnBoard today.

What Do We Do? WalkOnBoard brings various commercial ship types such as Ro-Ro, Tanker, Dry Cargo, and Container to the digital environment with 360-degree panoramic tours. Our platform not only offers a visual tour; it also provides students with practical lecture notes, videos, and technical guides prepared by working officers and engineers when critical equipment like ECDIS, Radar, Separators, or the Steering Console is clicked.

Our Mission To provide maritime faculty students, cadets, and young officers with a high level of familiarity and self-confidence before they take their first steps on board; and to make a free and accessible contribution to global maritime education.
